This is based on a conversation I had while volunteering at a local park with a very kind woman named Laura. She was happy to share a bit about her daily life so I could pass it along to our students in the United States. We spoke in English but also in Italian, giving me a chance to practice my Italian skills!
My name is Laura Monti.
I live in Florence, in an apartment on Via Lorenzo Il Magnifico, which is about 20 minutes away from the city center if you wish to walk. My apartment is relatively small, but since I only live with my husband, it is perfect for us.
I have a big family, but we all live in different places. We do our best to come together as much as we can. I live with my husband Jacopo, and we have two daughters in college. They both study at the Università di Firenze.
I try to walk as much as I can. Florence is a beautiful city worth admiring as you walk around, but you need a car if you are not in the city's center.
