Gruyère

I liked it a lot, but I also really like quiche in general so my opinion on this is biased. In Gruyère, we also got to see the cows grazing and had a really great view of Switzerland in the fall, with all of the leaves changing colors. Although the summer here was very nice, the fall is definitely my favorite! I prefer the cold, and I think that the leaves, hot drinks and soups on my windowsill are super cozy! I finally made the hot chocolate that I got from the Lindt museum and had it with my roommate Sunday morning! I usually melt down chocolate chips in almond milk, then add the chocolate powder. After everything is incorporated, I spice it with nutmeg and cinnamon sticks, then a bit of vanilla, ginger and brown sugar (measure with your soul)! Then, I top the whole thing with whipped cream, cinnamon sugar and chocolate syrup.

Another one of my favorite fall treats are apple possets: Boil heavy cream, sugar, cinnamon and vanilla in a pot (again, measure with your soul). Then, when everything is boiling, add in lemon juice or some type of acid until the whole thing thickens (for reference, if you coat the back of a spoon in the mixture, it shouldn’t drip. That’s how you know it's thick enough). Then, you can pour the mixture into ramekins OR you can hollow out the inside of an apple and pour it in there so that you have an edible container. Pop it in the fridge for four hours (or until it’s pudding texture), then take it out and top with brown sugar or caramel. Now you have a really easy dessert that looks super impressive. If you’re feeling really fancy, you can burn the sugar on top so you have a version of créme brulée.
