Traveler Bio

Hey there, I'm excited to share with you my time in London!

I'm enrolled in a biomedical research master's program at Imperial College London, concentrating in bacterial pathogenesis and infection. Imperial is an incredible school for microbial study, especially on my topic of interest: antimicrobial resistance (AMR). It has a large and multidisciplinary Centre for Bacterial Resistance Biology (CBRB) conducting research on all sorts of projects within this field, so I'm incredibly excited to start in the lab soon. My study here is supported by a Fulbright scholarship. Fulbright is a program that funds the exchange of postgraduate students and academics between the U.S. and other countries, and I highly recommend it to anyone whose work or study would be significantly informed by another country's perspective or resources.

Besides academics, London is a great city to live in. Opportunities for watching live sports, theatre, and concerts abound, and I've never before seen so many museums and bookstores in one place. The city is incredibly diverse, with people from all over the U.K. and the rest of the world coming into town for work, study, or tourism. This extensive diversity also contributes to the city's delicious food scene, which is especially appreciated by those of us newcomers who have not yet adjusted to eating a full English breakfast and roast every day.

By sharing my experiences, I hope to help younger students recognize the benefits of international exchange for work, study, and cultural understanding. I look forward to embarking on this virtual journey with you!
