Traveler Bio

Hola! Buenas! Hello! I'm so excited to share this journey with you! I am living in La Palma, which is the westernmost island in the Canary Islands. The archipelago is a part of Spain, but it's actually much closer to the coast of Africa. It took a bus, a plane and a ferry to get me to this island from Madrid! But now that I'm here, I couldn't be more excited.

I am from the Detroit area of Michigan, and I studied education and Spanish at Hope College before receiving a Fulbright Grant to be an English Teaching Assistant in a primary school in Santa Cruz de La Palma in Spain. I am 22 years old, and I love to read, run, cook and spend time outside! I love hiking around the lush forests and big volcanoes of the island, spending some time at the beach, or just going for a walk along the port in La Palma. I also love practicing my Spanish as much as I can!

I can't wait to explore the culture, community, environment, food, and more that this little island has to offer! From the papas arrugadas to the profound barrancos, or cliffs, we'll learn together what a special place this is. Vale! Vengan! Aprovechamos! (Okay! Come on! Let's make the most of this!)
