Apart from city life, the Czech Republic has some of the best country towns and hiking spots in Europe! I’d been wanting to go hiking since arriving here, and this past weekend, that dream finally came true with two back-to-back days of hiking.
On Friday, I visited an area called Bohemian Switzerland which, despite its name, is only about an hour away from Prague. It was named Bohemian Switzerland because it’s said to look as beautiful as the country of Switzerland, and I can guarantee that it didn’t disappoint. I only hiked a small part of the area, but I went on a quest with some friends to visit the place where a few scenes from the first Narnia movie were filmed! It was a rainy and cold day, but we prevailed and climbed up to the top of the mountain with the main rock where the characters stood. The fog was a little disappointing, as we couldn’t see any of the view from the mountain, but we had a fun time nonetheless.
On Saturday, I went with a couple of friends to a small town called Karlštejn, which is a little bit less than an hour away by train. It was an awesome trip.
