With the end of the rainy season approaching, the weather is fairly nice, with partly cloudy days and only some light rain. Often, during the afternoon, the temperature will reach the 90s while at night it drops into the 70s. Although the dry season can bring even warmer days, the humidity during the rainy season is what really makes the days feel so hot! The humidity is anywhere between 75% - 100%. It can be difficult to cool yourself down, especially with no air conditioning! I am looking forward to November when the evenings will get cold enough to sit around a fire at night with my host family and wear a sweatshirt.
This week, I saw a few different kinds of birds on my evening walks. The Gambia is known for having all different kinds of birds, with over 600 species! Sometimes, if I am lucky, I see monkeys. Sadly, I haven’t seen many recently. This is because people are very active at the farms planting and harvesting, so the monkeys are staying away since they are pretty scared of people.
