Ceud mìle fàilte, or for those who don’t read Irish-Gaelic, a hundred thousand welcomes! My name is Serena and I grew up on a farm in West Virginia. After graduating from high school, I decided to study international relations and architectural studies at Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts. People tell me that it is a strange combination of majors, but for me, it makes perfect sense because I study how people interact with each other and how this influences the built environment around them.
I am currently studying abroad in Cork, which is a small city in the south of Ireland. In Ireland, I am studying European politics, Irish archaeology and Irish architecture. Ireland has a rich culture and lively population with two national languages (English and Irish). In my free time in Ireland, I like to hike along Ireland’s many cliffs, grab tea and food with my friends, go on trips to nearby villages and historic sites and listen to traditional Irish music. I’m excited to be able to share my adventures with you and tell you about everything from local food to the legends of the faeries who live underfoot.
