These restaurants are doing the same thing even when you're not in your house.
The food here is very connected to the local environment. Things like the weather, land and nearby water decide what ingredients people use in their meals. One example is that the Koreans eat something called kimchi with every meal. Kimchi is made from cabbage and different spices.
Cabbage grows well in Korea. A long time ago, people fermented it to keep it fresh during the cold winter months. The winters in Korea can be very cold. Many people eat soups and stews to stay warm. Since I am here at the end of winter, I had a lot of soup because it is a common and comforting food during the cold season. In Korea, rice grows well, and the country is surrounded by the ocean. Because of this, so many meals also include rice and seafood.
