I am living in Malawi this year to do research on how to prevent cancer. Cancer is a big problem in Malawi because it is hard to get treatments and tests like x-rays. I want to help learn how to prevent cancer here. I am working with doctors from the US and doctors from Malawi. We can get a lot more done when we work together.
Outside of work, I am excited to be in Malawi because I think it is fun to see another part of the world! Everything will be new: dances, food, languages, animals. I love traveling because I love learning about other people and how they live. I have traveled to 20 countries, including India, Ghana, Peru and Bermuda. Some of these places look very different than my home. But through traveling, I have also realized that we have a lot in common with others, no matter where we are from. I also like to explore the outdoors in different places. I learned how to scuba dive in Bermuda! I cannot wait to meet new friends and find new activities in Malawi.
