Hi all! I am a 26-year-old medical student from Charleston, South Carolina. I love my hometown, which is a beautiful old city on the east coast. Some of my favorite activities are running on the cobblestone streets, going to the beach and paddle boarding. As a medical student, I have loved learning to take care of patients in the hospital and clinic. I want to be a cancer doctor eventually.
This year, I am excited to travel far from my home, to Lilongwe, Malawi! I will be working on a trial to help prevent cervical cancer, which is the most common cancer in women here. Malawi is a small country in southern Africa that has the fourth-largest lake in the world by volume. Malawi is also known for its mountains, elephant herds, and friendly people.
I cannot wait to learn more about Malawi... and to share it with you along the way!
