Farewell from Chemnitz

The event is open to the public and after a short presentation by the host, the guests are invited to try traditional food from the country or region that the host is presenting on.

Yesterday, I presented about Atlanta. As I began to prepare my presentation, I didn't think much of it. I honestly didn't think many people would show up, as I assumed most people didn't care to learn about a country they probably see so much on TV and media. However, as I gave my presentation, I found myself full of pride for my city and my home. People seemed genuinely interested and we chatted about Atlanta while eating traditional southern food.

It was at this moment when I became so grateful that I moved to Chemnitz. Chemnitz is often portrayed in the media in a very negative light, but the people I have met here and the community I have found are nothing like what you see on the news. They are kind, open-minded, open-hearted and willing to learn about the world.

So, there I sat, in a sort of limbo between my hometown of Atlanta and my current home of Chemnitz, and I couldn't have been more thankful. I can't wait to see what the next few months have in store.

So long!
