Hola! Hello! I'm currently living in Santiago, Chile on a Fulbright grant to do research about creating a culture of data usage and school improvement in Chilean public schools. I am working with a local non-profit organization and one of the major universities here. Young people are the future, so by making our schools better, we will make society better! My days here typically consist of visiting schools across Santiago (and sometimes other cities in Chile), interviewing teachers and school leaders, observing classes, meeting with my team in our office, and doing a lot of reading and brainstorming on my own.
I'm originally from Madison, Wisconsin, a city with a population of 250,000. By comparison, Santiago has nearly 6 million people! I am excited to take this year to explore, practice Spanish, and make new friends. In addition, I'm planning to get involved in the same types of hobbies I do back home. I have always played in an orchestra and dabbled in guitar and singing. My weekly routine also consists of doing yoga, dancing, interval training, or other types of exercise. Along with that, I love going on camping trips or taking day hikes, and luckily, there are plenty of opportunities to do that here with the Andes so nearby!
