Ciao! Hello everyone! My name is Sophie, and I’m from Great Neck, New York. I am 20 years old and in college, hoping to become a teacher and teach students just like you. I love listening to music, reading, baking sweet treats, doing fun crafts, exploring New York City with my friends, and trying foods from different cultures.
My parents moved from Beijing, China, to New York before I was born. I grew up in places like Queens and Great Neck, where diverse communities of people lived. I was also fortunate enough to have a hometown only a 40-minute train ride from NYC, one of the most diverse cities in the world! Meeting and making friends with people from different cultures made me want to learn more about them.
My love for traveling came from my mom! When I was little, she took me and my brother to various places and taught us how exciting and vital it is to explore the world. She used to tell me stories about her travels around China when she was young. She said those adventures made her brave, confident, and better at understanding others. My mom is the one who inspired me to try something new and different, and that’s why I’m excited to go on this new adventure of studying in another country.
