Hello, everyone! I'm Sophie Ramirez. I'm currently 28 years old, and I started my academic adventure at Colorado College, where I studied biochemistry and minored in music and French while following the pre-medicine track. My love for learning and languages then led me to Paris, where I earned a Master's degree in molecular chemistry at the prestigious Sorbonne University.
After my studies, I ventured into clinical research at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Washington, D.C., focusing on children and young adults. The diversity of D.C. inspired me to keep exploring the world, discovering different cultures and languages, and getting to know myself better.
My next chapter took me to the Peace Corps, where I lived in Morocco for a year, immersing myself in a new culture. Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, I had to leave Morocco, and I found myself in Mexico, where I'd been living for the last couple of years. During this time in Mexico, I'd been involved in gap programs for high school graduates, taking them to incredible places like Cambodia, Australia, Fiji, Peru, Vietnam, Chile, and more. These experiences further fueled my passion for international development and work abroad.
This journey ultimately led me to apply for a U.S. Fulbright scholarship in Jordan, where I'm teaching kids, teens, and adults. I hope you'll join me for this next chapter in my life of exploration and adventure!
