A Fantastic Semester in Budapest

Meeting people from all over the world has greatly broadened my worldview and has allowed me to get a better understanding of perspectives. Even in the U.S., my friends from Florida or Ohi  have a different outlook on life than I do, coming from Colorado, and that is important to understand.

I have learned a lot in all of my classes. I did not have any prior knowledge about Hungary during WWI and WWII, nor did I know much about the Soviet occupation in Central and Eastern Europe. This has been fascinating to me. I have also learned a lot from my Hungarian literature class. We have looked into the Holocaust and Soviet takeover from Hungarian and Polish first-person perspectives. Last, I have learned some Hungarian phrases that I will remember for the rest of my life. It is always nice to be able to go into a store and speak at least some of the language.

I have enjoyed Budapest and everything this city has to offer! From the amazing churches to the green parks to the Christmas markets, the ice skating, the food, and underground cafes, Budapest has been so good to me.  I will definitely be returning! I will never get tired of looking at the wonderful Danube River. I will always feel at home here and I believe that this is the best part of studying abroad. Meeting friends that will last a lifetime and learning about a new culture and city will have a lasting impact on my life. Living abroad has only piqued my interest in seeing the world and understanding new ways of life.

I hope hearing about my experience here makes you all want to be able to study abroad one day! I am happy to have been able to share my amazing experiences with you! Just know that it always is possible, no matter the hardships going on in your life!
