I had some delicious food this week, both in Santiago and during my travels. We had a mini asado with our scuba diving guide that was wonderful, but the best food I had this week was homemade maracuya (passion fruit) ice cream at a restaurant in Valpo. I ordered it with a cup of ginger tea as an afternoon snack, and it tasted amazing!
When traveling, I often listen to whatever music is on the bus radio. Chilean law requires bus drivers to keep the radio low enough that passengers don't complain, but you can usually still hear it unless there's a live musician performing on the bus. Most radio stations here play a mixture of English and Spanish pop and rock music from the last couple decades. Live performers often sing or play more traditional songs.
Scuba diving was incredible, and I don't get to do it nearly as often as I'd like. However, I also had a great time just walking around Valpo with my friends, exploring the street art and the narrow staircases in between buildings. The city is built around and on top of a series of small hills, so the streets are like a maze that goes up and down, not just right and left. The view from the top of some of the hills is amazing!
I'm still doing a lot of reading in Spanish for my biology class, and some reading for my other classes as well. This week I had an article about why the dinosaurs went extinct, and then a group of us in my class had to give a presentation on it.
