Sun, Heat, Desert - Be Careful

Water is quite scarce in many parts of the country and this can lead to health, hygeine, cleaning and irrigation challenges.

How have people been adapting to this environment?:

The types of homes that they live in are typically made of concrete, stone, tile and mud. These surfaces do not warm in the sun as much as wood and steel structures.  People often cook outside to limit raising the house temperature.

People take naps in the hot portions of the day.  They limit their exposure to the sun and heat. They drink lots of fluids to reduce dehydration.

They choose to have domestic animals that have limited work requirements.  They have beef cows instead of dairy cows.  They have chickens that range in their plots to provide them with fresh eggs.
