Hi everyone! I’m Braulio Misael Villegas Martínez, an Associate Professor at CIICAp-UAEM in Cuernavaca, Mexico, and Visiting Professor at Loyola University Chicago. I work at the intersection of physics, computer science, and education, focusing on quantum computing.
I studied physics, and during my undergrad, I worked on optical tweezers — laser beams used to trap tiny particles. That curiosity led me to a Master’s and Ph.D. in quantum optics, where I explored how small disturbances affect quantum systems using perturbative methods. A book was later published from this research. A turning point came during my time at CREOL in the U.S, where I studied light propagation in waveguide lattices — structures that simulate quantum phenomena. I later joined the Quantum Computing Group at the University of Notre Dame, where I applied theory to real quantum software tools.
I co-founded QubitHUB to promote quantum education in Latin America and developed QInterpreter, a tool to run quantum programs across major platforms. Today, I’m dedicated to training the next generation of quantum scientists and creating inclusive learning environments that connect students with global opportunities.
