Fashion in Japan is very different than it is in, let's say, America. In Japan, people are expected to 'dress up' more. Even if it means getting your McDonald's order in a nicely ironed shirt and pants rather than pajamas, you are expected to look proper in public. Sadly, no more PJ's to Burger King for me! Because people are expected to dress up more, there is also a wider range of fashion styles. With this journal entry, I'll be focusing more on Japan's fashion expectations, trends and styles.

Japanese people, like everyone else, love to express themselves, but in a country that expects everyone to always look proper in public, they created different fashion styles. How 'proper' do Japanese people dress? They wear a shirt and pants that look decent, at least. "Decent" should be able to answer the question: "can I go to a restaurant with this to have a meal with friends and family?" However, that's just the bare minimum! You'll find that people generally wear button-ups, blazers and suits. People want to do more than the bare minimum and often don't want to look the same. Japanese people,  like any other people, dress based on what they think looks good.
