Beyond my Bio: Getting to know TorTor

Journal Entry:

 Hola, Cushman fifth graders!

It is lovely to e-meet you! My name is Tori Wilson, but my closest friends call me TorTor. I was born and raised in a small rural town in southwest Louisiana, where I lived with my mom and two siblings. I am the youngest in my family. Most of my childhood was filled with neighborhood bike rides, riding four-wheelers with my siblings, playing Just Dance with my cousins and having sing-alongs with my mom. I still enjoy many of these activities today during my free time. I also like hanging out with friends, preparing new culinary dishes, trying new experiences and traveling the world, which is why I had an interest in studying abroad.

I chose to study abroad to immerse myself in Spanish culture, practice and expand my Spanish language skills and explore graduate schools abroad. I have wanted to study overseas since I started college! Last summer, I went on a two-week study abroad trip to Morocco and loved my experience. This trip made me even more determined to follow my dreams.

As my time approached to come to Seville, I felt anxious, thinking, "What if it is not what I expected? What if the people in my program dislike me? What if the food is awful?" However, after arriving in Seville, settling in and meeting my host family, I knew I had found my new home away from home.

My time here has been splendid!
