I traveled 120 miles this week. I went both to Garfia in the north and to the lighthouse at the southern point of the island this week.
I have traveled almost 6,000 miles so far. California is 5,600 miles away from La Palma.
I always walk around the city of Santa Cruz. I love that I can easily walk anywhere because it makes it easy to go to the beach and meet up with friends. Almost every day, I run into a few of my students and their families. It's the best!
I also used a car and the bus to get around. Over the weekend, I drove to the north of the island with friends, and I took the bus and then hiked to the faro (lighthouse) at the southern tip of the island.
I visited "El Museo Casa Roja" and learned about traditional arts and crafts in La Palma, including embroidery and crochet. My casera (landlady), Quina, knows how to do some of the crochet designs I saw at the museum. The museum is in a historic house, and my favorite part was the bathroom. Can you see the painted toilet in the picture?
