The highlight of my week was a trip to Yilan County on the northeast coast, where I took a whale-watching boat out of Wushi Harbor. We did not see any whales, but near Guishan Island we found a large pod of spinner dolphins. They leapt out of the water and spun in the air, and a few rode the wave at the front of our boat. As a marine science student, seeing them in the wild was easily the best part of my week.
