My friends and I suspected that the 2-hour uphill drive in the morning to the trailhead had taken its toll on the engine. In fact, the engine overheating warning on the car’s dashboard popped up not long after. Fortunately, we were able to reach out to a tow-truck company despite being on a remote road on the side of a mountain, and we made it safely back home.
