This week, I walked around Tübingen a lot! I also took a train about an hour north to go to a pumpkin festival near Stuttgart, which is the largest city in this area.
My first trip in Germany was to travel from my Fulbright orientation in Leipzig (close to Berlin in the east side of the country), down to Tübingen in the southwest, where I'll be studying. In total, the train ride took about six hours. I've also visited Stuttgart a couple of times, which is only an hour away by train. So, my total distance traveled is around 425 miles!
I took the bus every day and also walked a lot. On the weekend, I took a train. The trains run frequently here, sometimes every 15 minutes! The whole country is connected by train.
The Schloss Hohentübingen also houses the Tübingen Museum of Ancient Cultures, which I had the chance to visit this week. They have lots of different artifacts from around the world. One of my favorites was the recreation of cave paintings of the Lascaux cave in France. The original cave paintings were done around 20,000 years ago.
