Travel News

How far did I travel this week?:

I've traveled over 400 miles this week.

How far have I traveled on this journey so far?:

I have traveled at least over 10,000 miles so far since I left Las Vegas.

How did I get around this week?:

We took a combination of auto-rickshaws (small taxi), Ola cars (cars-for-hire) and buses. The buses were by far the most affordable rides. It cost only five rupees ($.08 USD) for a ride across town! There really weren't any huge inconveniences for riding them either. Unless it was a little over capacity, the rides were nice.

What was the most interesting place I visited this week?:

The most interesting place I visted this week has got to be the Mahatma Gandhi statue. That statue has my heart. Mahatma Gandhi is a pivotal figure in India. I mean, he's on the Indian rupee! Seeing all the young children climb up and down his feet felt very symbolic to me. He's still highly revered and respected today. Do you know what Gandhi is famous for?

Other Travel News from this week:

Going into Pondicherry, our group was on a sleeper bus. We had full twin size beds to lay down in during our ride. It was a really comfortable ride until the bus hit a big gap in the road. Our bus probably tilted about 20 degrees at maximum speed. Fortunately we bounced back into place. But, boy, was that scary!
