The trip usually takes about six hours on the regular bus, which stops whenever someone needs to get on or off. If I catch the express bus, which only stops in larger towns and not along the highway, the trip takes about four and a half hours. The bus ride to the capital cost me about $11 USD. Another interesting thing about the buses is that they only accept cash. This can sometimes be challenging because there is only one ATM in my town, so I always have to keep track of how much cash I have and make sure I have enough to get back home.
The most interesting place I visited this week was Placencia Bay on a day trip. It was only about a one-and-a-half-hour bus ride for me, and it is one of the closest true beaches to where I live. I was able to sit on the sand, swim and read my book. It has been a really hot week in Belize, so getting the chance to swim was a great opportunity, and I had a wonderful time. The water was super clear
Not much else is planned for now. We have a national holiday in Belize this weekend, which means I will have an extra day off. I may leave my town to visit another place in Belize, and I will share more about it during our next video call.
