Wat deh goh ahn? (What’s going on?) My name is Trey Walker, and I am a 25-year-old from Raleigh, North Carolina. Growing up in Raleigh, I spent a lot of time playing sports, exploring the outdoors, and traveling with my family—experiences that sparked my curiosity about the world and my love for learning about different cultures.
For college, I went to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where I studied History and Exercise Science. While at UNC, I worked with athletics and wrote my senior thesis on nationality switching in the Olympic Games, which deepened my interest in the global side of sports. After graduating, I continued my education at Ohio University, earning a master’s degree in Business and Sports Administration. During that time, I also interned with the Cincinnati Bengals—an experience that showed me how sports can bring people together across backgrounds and communities.
Here in Belize, I get to combine my passions for service, cultural exchange, and sports through my work as a Peace Corps Volunteer. I am assigned to a primary school of about 200 students, where I teach life skills, physical education, and coach athletics. Our work focuses on supporting and training primary school educators so that students gain the skills they need to grow into confident, empowered, and productive Belizean leaders. I’m grateful for the chance to learn from Belize and excited to share my experience with you!
