Mbote (hello)!!
My name is Tryphene Bulape and I am 20 years old. I grew up in Idaho but I am originally from Cameroon, Africa born to Congolese refugees. I grew up speaking and hearing many languages such as French, Lingala, and Kikongo. I grew up with many aunties and uncles and weekly family gatherings.
Family is very important in my culture. That is a big reason why I chose London. Having family in countries nearby in France and Belgium will help me when I start to feel homesick. I am very excited and fortunate enough to be a Gilman scholar which is allowing me to immerse myself in different cultures and struggles.
As a future social worker, I am beyond excited to be in such a diverse city like London! I am looking forward to our time together and I cannot wait to bring you along in my adventures. Would you like to join me?
