Nature News

Squirrels darted between the trees while pigeons strutted confidently along the pathways, both very much in their element as spring gets underway. The ponds were a particular highlight. Geese, swans and ducks moved gracefully across the water, and the variety of colours among the ducks was genuinely striking! Some sported rich brown plumage, others wear a clean, bright white. It's the kind of detail that's easy to miss until you stop and look.

The dogs were just as entertaining. Pugs, dalmatians and golden retrievers were among the breeds out in force, charging across the grass and making friends with every dog in sight. On a spring afternoon, it was hard to tell who was having more fun, the dogs or their owners.

What was the coolest thing I saw in nature this week?:

Without a doubt, it was the fox. Slipping quietly along the treeline, unbothered and unhurried, it was one of those brief, unexpected moments that stops you in your tracks. London is full of wildlife if you know where to look, but there's something about spotting a fox in the middle of a city park that never gets old!

Other Nature News from this week:

On my walk home through Hyde Park, I was stopped in my tracks by one of the most beautiful sunsets I've seen in a while. The sky above the park turned a deep wash of oranges, pinks and purples, casting a warm golden light across the open grass, making the whole scene feel almost unreal. In the middle of a busy city commute, it was one of those rare moments where London just takes your breath away. Sometimes the best things you see all week aren't planned at all!
