Do you remember some of the other Logbooks, Journal entries and Albums you have seen in my profile? Can you think of all of the different environments you noticed that I had visited? Take a moment to think about them all or look back at some of the places that I visited such as Tsitsikamma and Cape Town.
There are so many parts of South Africa that help the people live here. One of the greatest advantages is the lack of natural disasters. Hurricanes, tornadoes and tropical cyclones do not happen often or at all here in South Africa. Although the reason they do not have these natural disasters is a bit complicated, it is mostly due to its proximity to the Indian Ocean and how the wind channels travel throughout the region.
Even though South Africa does not experience hurricanes or tornadoes, they do experience very bad droughts. They have been experiencing droughts as far back as residents can remember. As the years go by, the droughts have been getting worse. This is associated with El Niño (complex weather patterns resulting from variations in ocean temperatures), human activity and climate action. There are a lot of organizations that have been trying to help combat these droughts by helping the most affected communities.
