Ciao a tutti! Hello everyone! My name is Valerie Orozco and I am a 24-year-old student from Los Angeles, California! I love southern California, but I have always looked forward to exploring the rest of the world! During my last year at the University of California, Irvine, I am going to study European history, culture and language in Bologna, Italy!
I am honored to study at the Università di Bologna! It is the world’s oldest university in continuous operation (which means that it is the oldest university to remain open since it was established). It is located in northern Italy, between Venice and Florence. Not many people know that Bologna is a university town that hosts an incredible amount of foreign and native students! All of my classes will be in Italian, so that will be a challenging and fun experience.
I have been given the opportunity to be in Italy for four months as a Gilman Scholarship recipient! I look forward to exploring topics related to our progress as a global community and how cultures interact. I am thrilled to have you join me in this adventure and discover the hidden treasures of Bologna. I hope to share with you all the joys that come from exploring new paths!
