Hola todos! Hello everybody! My name is Valery Lopez, I grew up in the greater Chicago, Illinois area and am a proud daughter to Mexican immigrants. As a kid, I spoke Spanish at home with my parents and learned English at school. This bilingual experience made me love learning languages and communicating with people from diverse communities. Born and raised in the Greater Chicago area, I went to college in Grinnell, Iowa, a rural town about an hour away from Des Moines. At college, I double majored in Political Science and French at Grinnell College. As a first-generation college student, my experiences at university helped me realize the immense influence my teachers and mentors had in my journey as a student. After finishing university, I was accepted to the Fulbright Program. Now, I work as an English Teaching Assistant at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia in Bogotá, Colombia.
