My Life Before and After Moving to Karlsruhe

Living in Germany and immersing myself in German culture has long been a dream of mine. My father’s grandparents grew up in Swabia and Cologne, but they did not pass down their German language and customs in order to better blend in with American society. After my grandparents’ passing during my early childhood, I had few ways to learn about my German heritage. Today I am so excited to be working in Germany, not only because the country is committed to developing a sustainable future, but also because I can connect with German culture on a more deep and personal level.

Right now, I am living in a room in the home of a Turkish family. They have been very welcoming, and sometimes they make me traditional Turkish meals that I have never had before. The house is located in the suburbs, but unlike Abington, you can find farmland, gardens, and forest mixed in with the neighborhood. I am very excited to share my journey and the things I learn about Germany, the environment and living abroad with all of you!

Bis bald! See you soon!
