Now I manage a small team of local staff and volunteers, while collaborating with a range of scientists and institutions. Together, we protect endangered whale sharks in Madagascar. I enjoy being able to pick who I want to work with and build strong relationships with my team and partners.
I believe we need more women leaders, as kind, approachable people we are often overlooked in leadership positions. If you feel like a leader at heart, my advice is to earn experience managing small events or projects, whether it is a fundraising event for a charity or a school project, all of these experiences will help you to grow both as a person and as a leader. You will encounter different types of experiences, ones you don’t like, which you can learn to avoid all at once, and ones that are challenging, but will make you a stronger and better leader. As you progress through life you have to follow your intuition and pick projects that match both your ambition and your ethics. This will help you thrive as a person and shine as a leader!
