The bacon they use is also different to the kind we have in the USA. Their bacon is a different shape and has no fat in it. It is like lean meat and tastes like pork jerky, and it is crispy on the outside and chewy inside. The sausage tastes the same as USA’s breakfast sausage, but the size is way bigger than any I’ve had on the USA. The grilled tomato is kind of sour and the mushroom was perfect to eat with all other foods in the plate.
Secondly, I tried real UK fish and chips. The fish and chips are very different than the ones in the US. Their fish here is a fried whole fish fillet. It is very crispy on the outside, but super tender and juicy inside. The chips are basically French fries, but they are thicker cut. Compared to an American fried fish meal, I think it’s fresher and there’s more of an original fish flavor without any other seasoning in it.
Lastly, Shepherd’s Pie is kind of popular food in the UK. They also call it peasant food. It is basically minced red meat cooked in a gravy or sauce with onions and sometimes other vegetables, such as peas, celery or carrots, and topped with a layer of mashed potato before it is baked. The pie is sometimes also topped with grated cheese to create a layer of melted cheese on top. I tried the one without the cheese this time. It smells so good and very delicious. There was a very light flavor for the sauce and the meat was tender. The mashed potatoes on the top are baked perfectly, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. When I put it in my mouth, the potato melted like cotton candy and was super satisfying. Overall, this is a tasty dish that fills your stomach.
