I think all of these dishes were delicious and I will totally eat them over and over again if I have the chance. They all have their unique taste and are very different to the foods I usually have in the USA. Trying new foods when I travel is one of the things that brings me joy, not just for my tummy, but also for my sense of connection to the place that I’m visiting. Food helps me better understand a culture.
I had most of these dishes in restaurants, so they were prepared very similar to restaurants in the USA. A server brought them out on a tray to my table for me to enjoy. However, there are some differences between different restaurants. I had the shepherd’s pie at a fancy restaurant, so the presentation on the plate was a little better than in the smaller restaurants I’ve seen.
I think that food is always connected to the local environment, because most of the traditional food is created based on the food sources people can access in their area. All the food I tried here, have been sourced locally within the UK, l think. The UK is near to the ocean and people plant crops and raise livestock for meat too.
