At my college in the U.S.A., there are limited opportunities for journalism courses, but here in Spain I am able not only to study my subject but do this while surrounded in my favorite language. Growing up, I loved Spanish and learning about new cultures and places around the world, in general. While Spanish was my favorite class in school, I struggled a lot with grammar and spelling. Through this experience, I have learned that when you really care about something and it makes you excited, you should always push yourself and have confidence in your abilities. Now that I am in Spain, I still have to work extra hard in my classes, but I am proud of the work I have done to get here.
During my free time in America, I love going on runs and watching movies with my friends. I am also on the track and field team at my college as a thrower. I throw the shot put, the discus and the hammer. I also love working as an editor and reporter on my college newspaper. While in Spain, I have spent the majority of my free time walking around Maria Luisa Park or around el centro (the downtown) with my friends. I also have some fun weekend trips planned that I would love to share with you!
I hope you are just as excited as I am for this journey and to learn all about Spanish culture and traditions! This will be a super fun experience to grow and try new things together!
