Instead, we slept in late, chatted over morning coffee, and enjoyed our breakfast all in good company, while sitting outside on Brooke’s beautiful wooden back porch, which overlooks the hills and valleys of northern California.
This week, we listened to a band that was new to us—the Isley Brothers. The Isley Brothers were a popular trio, comprised of three brothers, which formed in the 1950s and rose to great fame during the 1970s. The music produced by the Isley Brothers is incredibly diverse, and it typically falls into the genres of rock and roll, rhythm and blues, soul, and funk. They were inducted into the American Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1992, and one of their greatest hits was the song “Twist and Shout.” Although their music is no longer very popular—at least not among the younger generations—I really enjoyed listening to the Isley Brothers this week. I think their music is very relaxing, soothing, and feels quite happy. Our friend, Ethan, introduced us to the Isley Brothers using his cellphone and portable Bluetooth speaker.
The best activity this week was hiking along the canyon with our friends Brooke and Kyle.
This week, I began reading "Man’s Search for Meaning" by Viktor Frankl. I like to read books, and Josh prefers to read news articles on his phone.
