Hello, friends!
My name is Amber Bode. I am currently serving as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Belmopan, Belize. I was born and raised in Singapore for the first ten years of my life. Singapore is a super tiny island in the continent of Asia, and it is half the size of Rhode Island! My family consists of my mom, my dad and me. Together the three of us traveled to 18 countries around Asia and Europe for my parents' work, my dad's races (he was an ultramarathon runner) or for family adventures. Growing up in Singapore sparked my love for travel, and I knew from a young age that I wanted to live and work abroad.
When I was ten years old, my parents and I moved to Glen Ellyn, Illinois. Starting school in a new country was scary, but I had some great teachers who made it easier. I had always enjoyed playing sports, so when we moved to Glen Ellyn, I tried field hockey for the first time and loved it. I played field hockey and ran track at Glenbard West High School. During high school, I started coaching field hockey for the younger players at summer camps and during the school year. I learned that I loved coaching.
I continued playing field hockey in college, attending William & Mary (located in Williamsburg, Virginia) as a Division 1 student athlete.
