Adjusting to Humidity

Introduction:

After experiencing lots of heat in India, I arrived in southern China expecting it to be warm. Yet, it was initially a bit cooler than I expected because I came at the end of winter. Still, students informed me and I gradually discovered that the climate in Zhuhai is similar to the climate that I am used to in my hometown in Florida. With spring in full swing, Zhuhai is usually warm, full of humidity and has frequent rainy days. This climate negatively and positively affects the daily lives of students and locals alike.

What makes this environment special or different?:

Thankfully, Zhuhai has been recognized as a city with lower pollution in comparison to other Chinese cities. Zhuhai’s unique combination of being along the coast and surrounded by mountains makes this possible. Although some people still wear air pollution masks, Zhuhai's air quality is not a major concern. I am thankful that I can go for a run outside without worrying about breathing in heavy pollutants.

What parts of this environment help people to live here?:

When I visited northern China, the environment was cold and the air was dry, which made my skin become chapped. Although it can get cold in the winter in Zhuhai, the air is more humid.
