I started my classes a couple weeks ago and met my professors and classmates who come from all over the world (literally–we have at least one person from every continent!)
I’m looking forward to meeting you on our first video call session and sharing more about what I’m doing here. I’m going to tell you a bit about what I do as an architect and introduce you to some of the tools and techniques architects use to learn about buildings and cities. For this week, I’ve included my sketch of a building near my apartment in Berlin. Sketches can be a useful tool for architects to document or analyze buildings. When I was on trips abroad with my architecture class, we would frequently stop and sketch together in the cities we’d visit. At the end of our journey, we’d have a sketchbook full of the most interesting buildings we visited. For next week, be ready to tell me if you’ve had a chance to travel somewhere outside (or inside) the United States and one thing that surprised you about that place!
