A Little Bit About Me

I got into this program and received a Fulbright Student Grant which funded my cultural exchange in Iceland. It was the most amazing year of my life, and when I left Iceland after completing my degree, I couldn't shake the feeling that I still belonged in Iceland.

After completing my Masters, I traveled the world working as an expedition guide on small expedition cruise ships. I visited places like Antarctica and the Russian Far East since Iceland had gotten me hooked on the polar regions. However, I missed Iceland so much that I decided to apply for a PhD program at the University of Iceland--and I have been here ever since! I live in a town called Ísafjörður, which is a six-hour drive or short flight from Reykjavík, Iceland's capital. With fewer than 3,000 people, it is a small town nestled in between mountains and tucked away into a fjord, or a narrow inlet of the sea carved into the mountains by glaciers.

I'm really looking forward to sharing more about Iceland with you!
