I do not look forward to going back to the heat and humidity. Luckily, I'll be off to New York in July though.
2. Hot caramel popcorn at the movies: I kid you not, there were days I went to the cine (movie theatre) simply for the hot caramel popcorn and huge Colombian hotdog. I sat through La Primera Profecia (The First Omen) simply to snack (because that's just who I am).
4. My apartment: I loved my little princess pad. I loved the beautiful terrace and the spacious bedroom. I definitely appreciated it for what it was worth, especially knowing that come this Fall, I'll be living in a teeny tiny dorm again.
5. The dog friendly culture: Colombia is likely one of the most dog-friendly countries out there. I know Butler and I will both miss that. You can bring your pooch with you almost anywhere (shopping malls, cafes, restaurants), and anywhere that you can't bring them, they have "dog parking lots" where you can "park" your pooch.
The Top 2 Things I will NOT Miss in Colombia
1. Lack of toilet paper (and soap) in public bathrooms: (Also, throwing toilet paper in the trash instead of flushing it.) The public health professional in me struggled with the lack of soap for sanitation purposes. I was able to adapt to putting toilet paper in the trash can, though. I actually forgot that I was looking forward to the luxury of flushing it again.
2. Hotdogs on and in everything: Okay, when you get the chance to visit Colombia, you must try the hotdogs. Colombia is actually famous for them and I can attest to it that they are, indeed, delicious.
