London is such a diverse city that it is hard to go somewhere and not experience different perspectives. Many of the people living in London are from different parts of the world, whether they come from the United States, China, India, Russia or from one of another couple hundred countries. I believe that a person's culture shapes how they think, act and create traditions. For instance, many people around the world just celebrated the Chinese New Year. To anyone connected to the Chinese culture, the holiday celebrates the Lunar New Year and provides a time to honor one's ancestors. However, I have never experienced Chinese culture, or Chinese holidays.Living among many Asian people in London, I could use this celebration to learn about a different culture than my own. I also used it to try something new and have fun. I learned more more about Chinese history and traditions and why they matter to Chinese people.
A different perspective can help you to accept people who are different than you. A difference in perspective can range from having a different taste in foods to having a different view of people or the world. Here in London in China Town, I was able to try new foods, see new dances and hear new music.
