This week was my first week in my study abroad country, England. London is much larger than my town back home. When I first started going places, I was extremely confused. I would go the wrong direction, go to the wrong place and take a long time getting to places even if they were close. One time, a five minute walk to my classroom took me a half hour because I got lost. However, it was fun because I was able to explore more of the city. I am still getting the hang of using the Tube (London's subway) and finding my way around the many streets of London. I am thrilled to use public transportation and to see where it takes our journey.
The city of London has many ways to get around. There are lots of shops, resturants and businesses to visit as well as fun activities to do, and fortunately, these are generally close to each other in distance. Much of the time, people walk to where they need to go. If I walk five minutes in one direction from where I live, I find myself at my classrooms. If I walk five minutes in the opposite direction, I can reach many of the local shops and resturants. When I want to explore more of the city that is farther away, I can take a bus, a taxi or the Tube. The buses are similar to school buses except they have large windows, and many of them have two floors.
