Traveler Bio

Hello travelers! My name is Alex Gallegos, and I am pleased to bring you along on my journey. I am 22 years old and proudly from Las Vegas, Nevada. I recently graduated from the University of Nevada-Las Vegas with a degree in Political Science and a minor in Spanish. I am passionate about international relations--how countries around the world interact and face challenges together--history, language, and exploring cultures.

My family is partly from Mexico, so I have traveled there a lot, as well as to Argentina, Brazil, and Peru. My studies took me to Chile in 2023, where I studied democracy and human rights. I've also had internships in the government with the Department of State and my U.S. Senator's office.

Currently, I am living in Colombia as a Peace Corps Volunteer teaching English in a small, rural community about two hours from Bogotá. Every day is an adventure where I learn something new about this beautifully diverse country, or about myself, since I face some challenges and opportunities that I didn't in the United States. I enjoy the work I'm doing teaching English to high school students and to community members through conversation clubs and English for Tourism classes. I'm looking forward to immersing you in my little corner of Colombia, answering your questions, and getting to know you. Abrazos
