Autumn is falling here in Landau! It’s the week of Halloween, and the days are suddenly getting chillier. For more pictures, check out my new album. I went hunting for face paint to make a spooky skeleton costume today, and I figured it would be a good opportunity to talk to you about shopping in Germany. Shopping here is much the same as in the U.S., but with a few differences.
The first place I looked in the search for my costume was the dollar store, or the euro store more appropriately. Like a dollar store in the US, a euro store typically carries goods that just cost one euro. I popped into the EuroShop for a minute, but the selection there was small. There was only one shelf of Halloween decorations and no face paint to be seen. My next stop was the TEDi, a slightly larger and slightly more expensive store. The TEDi had a larger selection of Halloween items, but still no face paint. There was some ladies’ makeup supplies though. I might consider them as a last resort.
Saving the best for last, I stopped into the local Müller, a chain of small department stores in Germany. This particular Müller has three floors.
