Meet Howa, a Spunky 12-Year-Old Spanish Student

All the floors in my house are tiled.

What chores do you have at home?:

My siblings and I have a lot of chores to do around the house. After school, we come home and clean the dishes. If the floor is dirty, we sweep and mop. My favorite job is folding clothes. I let my brothers take out the trash because sometimes it smells gross!

What jobs do your parents have?:

My mom works in a hotel down the street from where we live. She cleans the rooms and sometimes she works the front desk. She likes her job because she comes home when we are done with school and spends time with us.

What time does school start, and what time do you go home?:

My school starts at nine o'clock in the morning. School is finished at five o'clock in the afternoon each day.

How do you get to school? Are you allowed to go to school by yourself?:

I walk to school every day. I am allowed to walk by myself, but most of the time, I wait for my friends and we all walk together or I walk with my brothers and sisters.

Where do you eat lunch? What is your favorite food?:

Right outside of the front of school, there is a big concrete patio where everyone eats lunch. I like it because I eat with my friends and I also enjoy being outside in the sunshine. My favorite food is pizza. My favorite kind is topped with ham and peppers. You should try it! It's so yummy!

What language do you speak at school? How do you say "Hello" in your language?:

Everyone at school speaks Spanish. Some of my teachers know a little English, but they teach in Spanish. Hello in Spanish is hola
