Meet Howa, a Spunky 12-Year-Old Spanish Student

What are some common kids' names at your school?:

My friends names are Ana, Diana, Charo, Pablo, Pepe, Maite, and Adama. Oh, and my name is Howa!

What subjects do you study in school, and which one is your favorite?:

I study many subjects! Right now, I am learning Mathematics, Science, Art, Music, Social Studies, Computers, English, and Valencian. Valencian is another language spoken here. It is a form of Spanish. In class, we learn the grammar rules and how to read better.

My favorite class is Computers because I get to play games and learn how to program.

What is your homework like?:

I don't like homework! I have it almost every night. I usually read a passage in Valencian and answer questions and then I do a set of math problems.

What do you like to do after school? Do you have a favorite sport or game?:

After school, I love to hang out with my friends. We ride our bikes around our neighborhood and draw pictures of each other. My favorite sport is swimming. I love to practice when I go to the beach. I also love to skate! There is a park close to my house where I skate a lot.

Who is your favorite famous person?:

My favorite famous person is Ozuna. He is a singer and is so good! His most popular song is "Taki Taki," but my favorite is a song called "Me Dijeron." I don't think he is popular in America, but you should listen to him. He was nominated for a Grammy last year.

What kinds of music do you listen to?:

I mostly listen to popular Spanish music. Many restaurants in Valencia play English music.
