In recent years, Valencia has made huge strides in clearing the air pollution within the city. Not long ago, the mayor introduced locals to a bike share program called Valenbici, which allows locals to rent bikes from stands throughout the city for only 30 euros a year. Roadways have been renovated and now include bike lanes seperated by medians to insure the safety of everyone traveling. Valencia was recently named one of the most bike friendly cities in Europe and has cut down its use of cars by almost half of what it was in 2005.
